It’s the second Monday of the month and that means it’s time once again for Inklings Radar! There’ are a couple of differences you’ll notice with this post versus its predecessor. The first is that some of our radar listings this time include events awaiting you in the upcoming month. These events will vary on event deadlines from the first two weeks or the last day of the following month. The second is a newly added section titled “Event Reminders.” This section will repeat events from the previous Inklings Radar post that are still running.

In a flash story, it’s important to make every word count. Keep the idea of movement in mind and stay focused on propelling the story forward – concentrate on the hook, the climax, and the conclusion. And remember, although it's very short, it's still a story and as such, it should have all the standard elements of a story - plot, character, conflict, etc.
Submit 1 story per entry; enter as many times as you want.

Event Type: Submission Contest
Deadline: September 14th, 2025
Rawhead is not a horror journal, but we believe in monsters and love Halloween.
For our first Special Issue, we’re borrowing back the other half of our name. In the lore, Rawhead is often portrayed as one part of a monstrous duo. Bloody Bones is its counterpart. If Rawhead is our year round banner of resistance, disruption, and mythic symbol of art as resistance, then Bloody Bones is the beast we let loose when it’s time to put all symbolic decorum aside.

Event Type: Queer Fiction & Nonfiction Submission Contest
Deadline: September 14th, 2025
Entry Fee: Free
Website: OurBoldVoices
We seek well-crafted, innovative and unconventional short stories centered on themes of love, mentorship, or friendship from queer authors. We invite submissions from both emerging and established writers. We enjoy stories that grab our attention. These fictional accounts may draw inspiration from real-life experiences.
