The Crysse Morrison Prize for Poetry is an annual competition run by Frome Festival in honour of the late Frome poet and author Crysse Morrison. Open to poets across the UK, the competition invites submissions of up to 40 lines on any subject. The 2026 competition is judged by stand-up poet, spoken word artist, and broadcaster Kate Fox. A special local prize is also awarded to the best entry from within five miles of Frome.

Briar Press NY is seeking a novella or novelette in the Early Gothic (Medieval) tradition, set from just after the Fall of Rome to around 1500. The organiser is looking for a riveting plot, vivid characters, and authentic historical atmosphere. Submissions must be previously unpublished as a whole work (though excerpts may have been published previously) and should be between 20,000 and 30,000 words (100–175 pages).
